Morongo Basin residents have been without a low-cost grocery store after the Food 4 Less store in Yucca Valley closed a year ago. Since then, the building has sat empty. However, a notice has gone up on the building that another discount grocery store will be coming: Grocery Outlet. Yucca Valley Assistant Town Manager Shane Stueckle said that plans for the bargain grocery store are in plans check. He added that the company intends to lease two of the spaces in the building, but no leases have been signed yet. A representative from Grocery Outlet told Z107.7 News that it hopes to have the store open in mid- to late-2019. Each store is independently owned and operated, but the new owners have not yet been selected. When the store is up and running, it will be staffed by 25 to 35 employees.
