With one of the world’s most beautiful National Parks in our Backyard, there is no dearth of spectacular hiking spots. ROP Broadcasting student David Mason asked a local Joshua Tree National Park Ranger her favorite places to hike……
Hiking in the park can be fun and enjoyable. Park Ranger Caryn Davidson told us some of her favorite places to hike are Ryan Mountain, Black Rock Canyon’s Panorama Loop, and the Boy Scout Trail. Never hiked before? No problem. We asked Davidson some places that less experienced hikers should go to she told us Barker Dam, Cap Rock, or Hidden Valley. Looking for something a little more exciting? Ranger Davidson recommends Eagle Cliff Mine, Rattlesnake Canyon, and for very experienced hikers, the Wonderland Connection. But, she said, remember always bring plenty of water, know your limits, have a trail map, wear proper footwear, and layer your clothing. If you hike alone, always tell someone where you’re going and when you expect to be back and bring healthy snacks.
