Celebrate more birthdays with the American Cancer Society by quitting smoking during this year’s Great American Smoke-Out on Thursday, November 17. If you or someone you love is looking to “kick the habit” this year, here are some helpful tips on how to break free from a smoking addiction.
Don’t keep it a secret. Tell your friends and family you are trying to quit.
Consider using medication to help you quit. Get rid of anything that reminds you of smoking, like lighters, ashtrays, or matches. Avoid places where smokers gather. When the urge to smoke strikes, do something else. Drink lots of water to help curb cravings.
