The Morongo Unified School District announced recently that traditional graduation ceremonies for high school seniors will not take place this year due to the continued spread of COVID-19, asking instead for students and their families to share their ideas of alternative graduation ceremonies. As creative ideas continue to emerge, some seniors and their families are already celebrating in their own unique ways. Reporter Andrew Dieleman shares one popular idea…

Many graduating high school seniors throughout the Morongo Basin are celebrating their graduation early by decorating with school spirit. Front yards, front doors, and vehicles across the Morongo Basin are being decorated from top to bottom with banners, streamers, and vibrant school colors celebrating the graduating Yucca Valley Trojans, Twentynine Palms Wildcats, and Black Rock Ravens of 2020. These projects represent the creativity and positive attitudes of Morongo Basin Seniors despite these restrictive and uncertain times.

Seniors who have completed a graduation decorating project of their own are invited to submit a photo of the project along with their name and the name of their high school to [email protected]. The photos will be compiled into a community album that will be available to view on Z1077fm.com.
