GoFundMe created for Twentynine Palms couple who died in house fire on June 17th

We have an update on the mobile home fire that claimed the lives of two Twentynine Palms residents on Monday, June 17th. Pauline Chung Lively and her husband Steven Lively were longtime residents of the Morongo Basin. Steven Lively died during the fire that engulfed their home in the 6700 block of Adobe Rd.

Pauline and her son Michael Sanchez.

Pauline Chung Lively was airlifted to Arrowhead burn unit in critical condition, with burns on her arms and nose. Her son Michael Sanchez says that she succumbed to a heart attack from her injuries on Friday, June 21st.

Michael says that the Red Cross has been helping with emergency funds and assistance.

A GoFundMe has been created to help cover the costs of transporting Pauline back to her home here in the Morongo Basin and help pay for the basic funeral plot and burials for both Steven and Pauline.

Michael says his Mom was a world traveler before settling here in the hi desert, and she even met the Queen of England as a child growing up in Kingston, Jamaica. She grew up with 4 brothers and 4 sisters, and worked and lived here in the Morongo Basin, looking after others as a caretaker.

Pauline was in Hawaii in 1966 when she was chosen as “Ms. Hawaii” by a local mayor. Michael said he was able to find some photos and important paperwork in the home after the fire, and he had a large amount of photographs stored away from the mobile home, which was considered a total loss after the blaze.

Michael says that the family is just looking to cover the basics of the burial for the couple, which is over $10,000.
