The classic drama “The Glass Menagerie” is showing now at Theatre 29. Reporter Rebecca Havely has your invitation to the final weekend…
Tennessee Williams’ auto-biographical memory play, “The Glass Menagerie” is a drama that explores a dysfunctional family. The mother Amanda Wingfield, played by Janet Peercy, is a self-appointed caretaker of her grown children. Her son Tom, played by Chris Fleishman, is torn between family loyalty and his dream of joining the Merchant Marines. Amy Fangmeyer plays Laura the peculiar, shy daughter who walks with a limp. She cherishes her collection of glass animal figurines and frets over a probable lonely future. Jim O’Connor played by Lyle Williams offers a ray of hope as a possible suitor for Laura. The production is directed by Katie Fleischman.
“The Glass Menagerie” will run weekends through August 25. Friday and Saturday nights at 7 and Sunday afternoons at 2:30. Tickets are $10 to $15 and are available by visiting theatre29.org or by calling the Theatre 29 Box Office at 760-361-4151.
