The exhibit, opening reception, and lecture on Giant Rock, set for Saturday, November 9, at the Hi-Desert Nature Museum in Yucca Valley, has been cancelled. The museum states that due to circumstances beyond its control, the exhibit opening has been postponed to a later, unspecified date.

“Our Giant Rock: A Community Touchstone in the Mojave,” is the culmination of years of study by Hi-Desert Nature Museum’s Exhibit Projects Director, Karyl Newman. The exhibit opens amid much fanfare at a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 9. Newman, with support from California Humanities, has studied the storied site north of Landers extensively. Now she has pulled together personal stories, film clips, historical photographs and first-hand accounts in one exhibit set to run through 2020. The Hi-Desert Nature Museum is in the Yucca Valley Community Center Complex. This is a free event; beverages will be served. Call 760-369-7212 for more information.
