If you’re looking to finally snag a blue ribbon at the annual Twentynine Palms Weed Show, consider a prep course. Reporter Heather Clisby has the details…
For 77 years, the Twentynine Palms Historical Society has hosted the annual Weed Show to highlight arrangements of desert vegetation and found objects. For 33 of those years, Wonder Valley resident Ted Meyers has won ribbons and now, he’s sharing tips. Meyers will host a free Weed Show Presentation on Saturday, August 18, at the Wonder Valley Community Center, 80526-1/2 Amboy Road, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Three things you will learn during the presentation:
1. How to construct a display.
2. The importance of following all rules.
3. There are no monetary prizes involved, but the fun, the feeling of accomplishment and the possibility of winning bragging rights for a full year are worth the effort.
No need to bring materials, this is a demonstration. The annual Weed Show is November 3 and 4 at the Old Schoolhouse Museum on National Park Drive in Twentynine Palms.
