Fire season is upon us! Make sure you know the best tips to ensure that your house stays safe against fires. The San Bernardino County Fire Department has some good tips for you. Step one, get ready! Create a defensible space around your home by clearing your yard of all dead or dying vegetation. Make sure your address is clearly visible from the street so that it can be seen easily by firefighters. Step two, get set! Create a family disaster plan that includes meeting locations and communication plans. Have several escape routes, and a meeting place outside of the fire area. Step three, go early! When law enforcement suggests an evacuation, leave early so that firefighters can just focus on the fire that needs to be contained and can have plenty of room to park their fire trucks.
