The Morongo Basin Humane Society no-kill animal shelter in Joshua Tree received a special donation yesterday—a 30-foot RV, nicknamed “Gertie.” Gertie was donated to the shelter by Palm Springs community activist Shann Carr, who posted videos of its trip from Palm Springs to Joshua Tree live on Facebook. Gertie was hauled to the shelter on a flat-bed tow truck, as its transmission needs work. The animal shelter plans to use the RV as a socialization room for people to meet its animals.
