GERRY NOONAN APPOINTED TO YUCCA VALLEY PLANNING COMMISSION

Gerry Noonan was appointed as Yucca Valley’s newest Planning Commissioner. The appointment was made at last night’s Yucca Valley Town Council meeting, and reporter Jef Harmatz has a full rundown of the meeting.

At last night’s regular meeting, the full council voted to approve Noonan for the Planning Commission after he was nominated by Councilmember Merl Abel. Abel met with 17 applicants for the open seat on the Planning Commission, ultimately choosing Noonan, a third-generation resident of the Morongo Basin. Noonan’s term on the commission will end on January 31, 2023. The Town Council also received a report on the town’s budget for the final six months of 2022 that showed the town’s revenue trending upwards, on the basis of increases in property, sales, and transient occupancy taxes. Finally, the council approved spending funds from the American Rescue Plan Act to replace town revenue that was lost between 2020 and 2022.
