Joshua Tree was without power for several hours Friday afternoon due to a low-hanging cable line. According to the California Highway Patrol, Kenneth Porter, 59, of Joshua Tree was driving a Burrtec garbage truck northbound on Mountain View Street, just south of Chollita Road, when the top of the truck caught on a cable line running across the road. As Porter continued to drive northbound, the truck pulled the cable line until the power pole, to which the line was attached, broke and fell on top of a detached garage in the 6300 block of Mountain View Street. As a result, several homes in the area were without power for several hours, until Southern California Edison could make repairs. One listener told Z107.7 News that she was still without power Saturday morning.
