The new October exhibit at Gallery 62 is full of surprises and the public is welcome to attend the Opening Reception October 8 from 6 to 8 p. m. The exhibit is entitled, “A Lingering Fascination with Things Material” and will be on display through October 31. The signature artist is Laurie Schafer she creates wearable art and wall pieces appliqued on beautiful silks. Featured artists include Janis Commentz, David Hale, John Greenfield, Alan Powell, Lenne Rosen-Kabe and Esther Shaw. Gallery 62 will be an information center for the Hwy 62 Open Studio Art Tours during the weekend of October 15,16 and 22, 23 and will remain open those two weekends from 9-5 both Saturday and Sunday. Gallery 62 is located at 61607 Suite H, 29 Palms Hwy in Joshua Tree. Regular hours are Saturday 9 to 3 and Sunday 12 to 3. For more information go to gallery62.org.
