FUNDRAISER FRIDAY TO RESTORE DESERT STORM MURAL IN TWENTYNINE PALMS

Originally painted in 1995 by artist Chuck Caplinger of Twentynine Palms, the mural honors the historic Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm homecoming and the 1991 Victory Parade in Twentynine Palms that celebrated the return of troops to the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center. Courtesy photo

The benefit marks the 29th anniversary of the end of the Gulf War and serves as a fundraiser to assist Action 29 Palms restore landmark mural #5, titled “Desert Storm Homecoming & Victory Parade” to its former glory by the original artist, Chuck Caplinger. Guests are invited to enjoy complimentary appetizers provided by the 29 Palms Inn, as well as a no-host beer and wine bar.

Donations and pledges will be gratefully accepted throughout the fundraising event. Contributions may also be made online by visiting action29palmsmurals.com.

The free event will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 28 at The Campbell House, 74744 Joe Davis Drive off Utah Trail, in Twentynine Palms.
