Last night’s Twentynine Palms Water District meeting had a full audience to honor former Director Philip Cisneros after serving 20 years of being a board director, seven of which he was president. Cisneros received plaques and awards from many people such as the Copper Mountain College Board, the mayor of Twentynine Palms, the Commanding General of the Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center, and the Twentynine Palms Water District. All of these awards recognized Cisneros’s hard work and the dedication he has shown for the Water District and the community. Cisneros said, “I appreciate everything that was said and given to me. But the real reward is getting to work with this water board and Water District staff. It’s been one heck of a ride. I never did anything alone; I was a part of a great team.” He ended his speech saying, “I will remember to pay my water bill.” On the Fire Department side, Jim Thompson, the Fire Chief, also said a few words about Cisneros. He said, “Thank you for your unwavering support for our fire fighters over the years.” At the end of the meeting, Thompson wanted to remind everyone the importance of a fire and smoke alarm. It is not only to alert you, it can alert your neighbors when you are not home.
