Joshua Tree National Park will be reducing hazardous fuel in the Oasis of Mara area this Tuesday. The Park will be thinning vegetation at the Oasis of Mara to reduce the threat of wildfire. Fire crews from the National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, and Marines from the Combat Center, will thin mesquite trees and break up continuous vegetation in the oasis to provide fuel breaks to slow or stop the spread of fire. Areas targeted for thinning include the western edge of the oasis, just inside the wall, and just west of the paved trail around the oasis. For more information, call Aaron Kendall at 760-367-3041.
