Two men were injured in a shooting in Twentynine Palms Friday morning. A call came in at 9:21 Friday of a shooting at the corner of Hillside and Sunnyvale, just two blocks north of Oasis Elementary School. Sheriff’s officials said the shooting was a result of an argument that escalated. Gilbert Gonzalez Jr., 26, was shot three times, including twice in the body and one shot that grazed the top of his head.  Gilbert Gonzalez Sr., 47, sustained a gunshot wound on the top of his head; he was awake and conscious when medical help arrived. The shooter fled before law enforcement arrived; Oasis Elementary School and nearby Twentynine Palms High School were locked down for a short time as a precaution.  Gilbert Gonzalez Jr. was flown to Desert Regional Hospital in Palm Springs, and Gilbert Gonzalez Sr. was taken to another area hospital. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department at 760-366-4175.
