FRIDAY LECTURE IN TWENTYNINE PALMS TO FEATURE PIONEERTOWN

Due to a scheduling conflict, the Dunn Brothers will not conduct the lecture at the Old Schoolhouse Museum on Friday, December 14, as previously announced. On that date, Kenneth Gentry will give a lecture, “Pioneertown, USA: Where the Old West Lives Again.” Reporter Eric Knabe has more on this little bit of history…
Pioneertown was established in 1946 by Dick Curtis along with his friends and co-stars, Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, and The Sons of the Pioneers, as a “living breathing movie set” in southern California. Many stories of the High Desert town have been lost, embellished or even misreported. Pioneertown, USA, details the rich history of this hidden treasure in the Morongo Basin. Sponsored by the Desert Institute at Joshua Tree National Park and the Twentynine Palms Historical Society, this lecture will be held at the Old Schoolhouse Museum, at 6760 National Park Drive, Twentynine Palms, on Friday, December 14 at 7 p.m. This lecture is open to the public and costs $5 per person at the door.
