The deadline to file for public office is fast approaching. Managing editor Tami Roleff says you’ll need to act quickly…
If you’ve always dreamed of serving your community, Friday, August 10, may be your last chance to embark on that path. At least for a while.
That’s the deadline to file papers for a variety of Morongo Basin public offices that will be on the ballot in November. In addition to seats on the governing councils of two local municipalities – Yucca Valley and Twentynine Palms – positions are open on the boards of a variety of government agencies including the Hi-Desert Water District, Joshua Basin Water District, Hi-Desert Memorial Health Care District and the Morongo Unified School District.
While candidates for the two municipal councils can get their papers at city or town hall, most others will have to “pull” them at the county elections office in San Bernardino.
The filing deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, unless an incumbent doesn’t run, in which case the deadline will be extended by a week.
