Last year the National Park Service joined forces with the Morongo Basin Transit Authority on a two-year pilot program to offer free, seasonal shuttle service for visitors to Joshua Tree National Park. Managing editor Tami Roleff tells you how to get on board…
Avoid the long lines going in to Joshua Tree National Park by taking the Roadrunner Shuttle service. The shuttle runs Fridays through Tuesdays in April, and weekends in May through Memorial Day. The shuttle bus travels between Twentynine Palms and Quail Springs nearly every hour from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and makes stops at Jumbo Rocks, Ryan Mountain, Hall of Horrors, Cap Rock, Barker Dam, Intersection Rock, Hidden Valley, and Hemingway. The shuttle no longer goes into the village of Joshua Tree. Bicycles and climbing gear are allowed on the shuttles. The shuttle is free, as is the entrance fee for shuttle riders.
