An artist in residence at Joshua Tree National Park will lead three free photography hikes at Barker Dam this weekend. Anyone with any type of camera—even a cell phone camera—is invited to take part in the 45-minute hike led by Luke Matjas. Matjas is the chair of art and performing arts at Cal State University, Channel Islands. The hikes will begin at the Barker Dam trailhead in Joshua Tree National Park and will proceed to the dam with stops along the way to take photos. The hikes will take place at 4 p.m. Friday, October 2; 5 p.m. Saturday, October 3; and 9 a.m. Sunday, October 4. Participants should bring plenty of water and wear appropriate footwear.
