The Twentynine Palms Historical Society continues its second Friday lecture series tomorrow. Here with your invitation is reporter Rebecca Havely…
Author and historian Pat Rimmington recounts the history of “The Pioneering Women of the Morongo Basin” in the next second Friday lecture series January 13. Sponsored by the Desert Institute at Joshua Tree National Park and the Twentynine Palms Historical Society, this lecture is held at the Old Schoolhouse Museum, 6760 National Park Drive in Twentynine Palms. The lecture begins at 7 p.m. Rimmington was introduced to the area when she and her husband Sid purchased a home which turned out to be the oldest standing adobe homestead in Twentynine Palms. She began learning the history of the area when she volunteered to transcribe taped interviews of early residents for both the local library and the then named, Joshua Tree National Monument. She is a charter member and past president of the Twentynine Palms Historical Society.
