While many government agencies will be closed on Monday for Veterans Day, your national parks—including Joshua Tree National Park—will be open, and will be waiving entrance fees. Rebecca Havely has more information…

The National Park Service will celebrate Veterans Day Monday by waiving entrance fees at all national parks. At Joshua Tree National Park, you will not have to pay the $30 per vehicle entrance price. Camping and reservation fees will still be collected as normal. Monday’s free admission also applies to sites overseen by the Bureau of Land Management, Army Corps of Engineers and wildlife refuges run by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Fee-free days are an opportunity to take advantage of scenic hikes and views, and enjoy the desert, day or night. Prepare accordingly with a backpack, water, sunscreen, hat, and snacks.

Pack up your family, bring a camera, and enjoy a free visit to your beautiful desert park.
