Charles Persons, 32, who plead guilty to vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence in a February crash that killed three Hesperia teenagers, was sentenced to four years in prison yesterday. Persons, from Thousands Oaks, was driving from the King of the Hammers event in Johnson Valley when he crashed his truck head on into a sedan, killing 18-year-old Tyler Correll, Ruben Ramos, 18, and Jordan LaRocque, 17. As part of a plea bargain, he was also ordered in the Joshua Tree Courtroom to pay about $40,000 in restitution and fees. CHP Investigators said Persons was traveling south on State Route 247 when he crossed a solid yellow line at Olvine Road to pass a line of cars, striking Correll’s 2001 Saturn sedan. The three victims were headed home after being in Yucca Valley.
