FOUR MARINES ARRESTED AFTER SHOTS FIRED AT TWENTYNINE PALMS BAR

Four active-duty Marines were arrested following a fight outside a Twentynine Palms bar where shots were fired early Sunday morning. At about 1:31 a.m. Sunday morning, sheriff’s deputies responded to a fight involving multiple subjects at the Break N’ Run Bar at 72143 29 Palms Highway. As deputies were responding, witnesses said the suspects, described as four black men, fled eastbound on the highway in a silver 4-door Nissan, while one man fired four to five shots into the air from the car’s window. Deputy Jared Dominick spotted the vehicle turn into the Denny’s restaurant parking lot in downtown Twentynine Palms and conducted a felony traffic enforcement stop. Additional deputies arrived on scene and all four subjects were taken out the vehicle at gunpoint. Two semi-automatic handguns were found in the Nissan. Passenger Michael Jolly, 24, was arrested on suspicion of negligent discharge of a firearm, and driver Richard Harris, 26, and the two additional passengers, Corderous Mahone, 26, and Craig Chapman, 24, were arrested for being accessories to a felony. Michael Jolly, Richard Harris, Corderous Mahone and Craig Chapman were identified as Marines stationed at the Twentynine Palms Marine Base. All four were transported to the Morongo Basin Jail. Michael Jolly was booked for investigation of negligent discharge of a firearm likely to cause injury or death and held on $50,000 bail. Richard Harris, Corderous Mahone and Craig Chapman were booked for investigation of being an accessory to a felony and booked with bail set at $25,000 each.
