Four teen boys were arrested Tuesday, accused of burglarizing and vandalizing the old Joshua Tree Elementary School. Investigators say four boys, a 13-year-old from Joshua Tree, a 14-year-old and two 15-year-old boys, all from Twentynine Palms, went to the vacant school building on Sunburst Avenue just before 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, and forced their way into the building. Deputies say the boys caused about $2,000 worth of damage to the building and stole $3,480 worth of electronic equipment. Through an investigation, the Yucca Valley School Resource Officer Michael Sellers identified the four suspects. Deputies contacted the boys and recovered the stolen property, as well as the tools used to destroy the school grounds. The juveniles were arrested and cite released to their parents.
