FOUR ARRESTS IN INVESTIGATION OF YUCCA VALLEY HOME INVASION ROBBERY

Sheriff’s deputies made four arrests this week in relation to a home invasion robbery in Yucca Valley last week. Deputies linked Albert Dupree, 18, and two of his friends, 16 and 17, with a home invasion robbery in the 7400 block of Cherokee Trail early Friday morning. As we reported Tuesday, Dupree and the two juveniles were arrested Monday afternoon after stealing ice tea from a gas station market to go with their donuts. Then about 12:30 Tuesday afternoon, a deputy saw a fourth suspect in the home invasion robbery, Deavonta Edmon, 22, near Onaga Trail and Sage Avenue. The deputy stopped Edmon and found in his possession not only enough marijuana to qualify for an arrest for sales, but also a key for the Ford Ranger pick-up truck that had been stolen during the home invasion robbery. The truck had been recovered earlier Tuesday in Yucca Valley. Deputies also recovered two guns that had been stolen in other robberies in Yucca Valley. Authorities say early last Friday morning, Dupree, Edmon, and the two juveniles went to a home in the 7400 block of Cherokee Trail and forced their way in at gunpoint. The homeowner’s dog was shot—but not killed—and the suspects locked the man in a closet after tying his hands together with cable ties. Sheriff’s officials say Edmon, Dupree and the two boys then stole the man’s pick up truck. Deavonta Edmon was arrested for investigation of possession of marijuana for sales, being in possession of stolen property, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000. Edmon also has a robbery warrant for his arrest from Mississippi, and so is being held without bail for being a fugitive.
