Approximately 75 volunteers met last week to determine if Tender Loving Christmas would continue after the passing of its founder, Mara Cantelo. The group unanimously agreed to continue the program under a new name, “Mara’s Christmas Wish.” With more here’s reporter Rebecca Havely…
For 30 years Mara Cantelo made sure that those less fortunate had a place to celebrate Christmas, and providing a holiday meal, togetherness, and toys from Santa for the kids. The newly named holiday event, “Mara’s Christmas Wish,” has a volunteer group meeting weekly to plan the Christmas day event. The next meeting is set for November 10 at 6 p.m. at the Yucca Valley Community Center. The group will meet every Friday until Christmas day. Volunteers, donations and funds are critical to making this event a reality. If you wish to volunteer simply attend the planning meetings.
