A former Twentynine Palms woman was one of the five victims killed in a bank shooting in Florida Wednesday. The 54-year-old woman—whom Z107.7 is not identifying at the request of her family—was a teller at SunTrust Bank when a 21-year-old gunman walked into the bank, made five women—including the former Twentynine Palms resident—lie down on the floor, and then shot them in the back of their heads with a 9mm handgun. Zephen Xaver then called police to report he had just killed five people. Xaver was arrested after an hour-long stand-off when a SWAT team broke into the bank. The woman’s husband was at one time a Marine stationed at Twentynine Palms, and their two sons are graduates of Twentynine Palms High School.
