FORMER TWENTYNINE PALMS FATHER CRITICAL AFTER RESCUING HIS FAMILY FROM FIRE

A former Twentynine Palms father entered a burning house three times Wednesday to rescue his children from a house fire in Oregon. Michael “Jay” Kinard and his wife Tiffany recently moved to Vale, Oregon, from Twentynine Palms along with their three children. The local Sheriff’s Department said the fire broke out about midnight Wednesday, and after the parents escaped from the burning house, Jay Kinard went back in to the house to rescue Jacob, 10; Aiden, 8; and Savannah, 6. Aiden died from his injuries Thursday. Jay Kinard suffered burns to his hands, arms, ears, and left shoulder. Jacob and Savannah suffered smoke inhalation and burns; they are stable but still in critical condition. They are all being treated at the University of Utah Health Care Burn Center in Salt Lake Center.
