FORMER RADIO PERSONALITY ARRESTED TWICE IN DECEMBER ON DRUG CHARGES

A former disc jockey with Z107.7 was arrested twice in December on drug charges. Sam Smith, 48, of Twentynine Palms, was stopped about 4 a.m. December 2, near Stardune Avenue and Highway 62. After an investigation, Smith was arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to sell, and possession of methamphetamine for sales. On December 27, Smith was stopped again, this time near Joshua Drive and Ocotillo Avenue. According to Sheriff’s officials, the deputy located a plastic container containing suspected methamphetamine inside Smith’s Suburban. During further investigation, deputies located additional meth, scales, and drug paraphernalia, consistent with drug sales. Smith was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance for sales. Sam Smith was formally charged in San Bernardino County court on February 2 with transporting or selling methamphetamine, and required to register as a drug offender. No arraignment date has been set yet. Charges are still pending for the second arrest.
