Felon Flees Traffic Stop, Leaving Driver to Be Arrested for Concealed Weapons

During a traffic stop in Twentynine Palms, a paroled felon is suspected to have fled the truck, leaving the driver behind to be arrested for suspicion of being a prohibited person possessing a concealed weapon.

At 11 p.m. on Saturday night, Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Silverado that had expired registration near Hatch Road and Estrella Ave. Deputies report that, during the traffic stop, an adult male passenger, Kout Hout, was found to be a felon recently released from prison. Also found in the truck was .22 caliber Ruger pistol and .22 caliber ammunition.

Kout Hout, who, as a felon, is prohibited from possessing firearms, fled the vehicle on foot, while the driver, Kati Pearson, a 25 year-old Twentynine Palms resident, remained in the truck. Deputies conducted a search for Hout but were unable to locate him.
