FORGET ESCAPING, MAN CAUGHT SNEAKING INTO COUNTY JAIL

Forget escaping: A man was caught climbing into the San Bernardino county jail Sunday. About 6 a.m. Sunday, July 31, County Sheriff’s Sgt. Corey Emon spotted a man who was not a prisoner climbing up the perimeter fence of the Central Detention Center in San Bernardino. Emon notified jail staff and they arrested the man, discovering there was a warrant out for his arrest. Shane James McDonald, 28, of San Bernardino, was arrested on suspicion of trespassing and for the warrant, according to the Sheriff’s Department. Video from surveillance cameras showed McDonald had also visited the county yard east of the jail. His climb inside the jail wasn’t in vain; McDonald was booked into the Central Detention Center and held in lieu of $25,000 bail.
