FOREST SERVICES EXTENDS CLOSURE TO MAY 15

The US Forest Service has announced that most developed recreation sites in the Pacific Southwest region will remain closed through May 15. The order does not close trails, trailheads, and general forest areas; these areas remain accessible for public use. In light of the stay-at-home order, residents are asked to use local recreation areas. Managing editor Tami Roleff has tips from the Forest Service about how to enjoy the forests safely…

If you do plan on visiting national forests during the stay-at-home order, be aware that no trash removal is currently offered; please pack out all trash and waste. Avoid high-risk activities; law enforcement and search and rescue operations may be limited. If an area is crowded, please search for a less occupied location. Information on individual recreation sites and opportunities are available from local National Forests.
