Forbes came out with its 2017 list of America’s Best Banks last month, and a bank with a branch in Yucca Valley was ranked number one. Forbes rated Los-Angeles based PacWest Bancorp—the parent company of Pacific Western Bank—as the best among the nation’s 100 largest banks, based on 10 metrics related to growth, profitability, capital adequacy, and asset quality. The bank, which has $21 billion in assets, scored in the top 20 in eight of the 10 metrics Forbes measured, including a 5.4% net interest margin (third-best among the 100 largest banks), and 1.6% return on average assets, which ranked fourth. PacWest offers banking services at 77 branches in California, including Yucca Valley.
