Food trucks expected to be discussed at Yucca Valley Planning Commission Tuesday (1/27)

Food trucks and mobile food vending is a hot topic in Yucca Valley, and not just for hungry residents looking for tamales at lunchtime. The Yucca Valley Planning Commission will meet tonight to consider granting a permit for a local couple’s food truck that you may already be familiar with.

JT Desert Drifters is a food truck run by Mike and Sue Watson and they want to set up at the Home Depot in Yucca Valley to serve what they call real honest food cooked the way you would do it at home. If the name sounds familiar, it’s because you may have seen the truck setup at local events like Grubstakes Days, Joshua Tree Retreat Center concerts, the Woof Walk and most recently at the King of the Hammers.

The Planning Commission is expected to approve a temporary use permit for the couple to make their spot in the Home Depot parking lot more official. That item and the always popular Land Development Update will be discussed at tonight’s Planning Commission meeting in the Yucca Room at the Yucca Valley Community Center. It starts at 6:00 p.m., and you can see the agenda here.
