FLAG RETIREMENT SATURDAY IN JOSHUA TREE

In honor of Flag Day, a flag retirement ceremony will be held Saturday, June 11, at the Joshua Tree Memorial Park. Torn or tattered American or POW flags may be dropped off at the cemetery or the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, 6402 Veterans Way, in Joshua Tree. Flags may also be dropped at the fire stations in Yucca Valley or Joshua Tree, or at the Elks Lodges in Twentynine Palms or Yucca Valley. Last year, 5,000 flags were retired. The public is invited to attend the annual flag retirement ceremony, which starts at 10 a.m. Saturday. For more information, call Mike Shannon at 760-366-2717.
