The 11th Annual Parade of Homes organized by Reach Out Morongo Basin announces two homes on this year’s parade route and seeks one final Joshua Tree home to complete the lineup. Here’s reporter Rebecca Havely with all the details…
The largest fundraiser of the year for Reach Out Morongo is being organized now for a February 15 parade. Executive director Robin Shlosser has announced two of the featured homes chosen. The first is the Dream Catcher Ranch in Western Hills. The home of Rey and Kiyomi Ortega is a true gem. It’s nestled between other-worldly boulders, and features ancient weathered walls, walls made from colorful glass bottles, artistic tree-scapes and a glimmering penny mosaic floors. A second home, Old Wagon Ranch in beautiful Yucca Mesa, belongs to Larry Johnston and Karol Beer. This “all things Western” ranch, built in 2008, features dusty streets in a town called “Dry Bone.” There are mining cars, storefronts, even real donkeys. Have your picture taken in their old stage coach then head to the depot to see their handmade trains. One more Joshua Tree home is needed to complete the event so if you have an interest or need more information contact Robin Schlosser at 760-361-1410.
