FIRST RACE STARTS SUNDAY AT KING OF THE HAMMERS

The 10th annual King of the Hammers off-road races is a week-long event that pits off-road racers against the most extreme terrain in Johnson Valley. Between 25,000 and 35,000 people are expected to fill Hammertown, the temporary village out in the Johnson Valley Off Highway Vehicle Recreation Area. A mandatory meeting for drivers who will be racing in the King of the Hammers is set for 6 p.m. tonight in Hammertown. The first race starts tomorrow with the King of the Motos. Registration begins today until 6 p.m., and will continue Sunday. The race starts at 8 a.m. and goes until 4 p.m. The awards ceremony for tomorrow’s race will be at 5 p.m. at Hammertown. On Monday, mandatory meetings will be held for drivers in qualifying races, and the vendor show opens.
