FIREWORKS SHOWS SET FOR LANDERS, YUCCA VALLEY, AND TWENTYNINE PALMS

Third of July festivities are planned today at Homestead Valley Park in Landers. The gates open at 4:30 p.m. Enjoy tasty food, beer and margaritas; stroll among the vendors and displays, and move to music by the Big Fat Steve Band and Henry Fencepost. Following a presentation by the Marine Corps Color Guard, the dazzling fireworks begin after dark. The park is on Belfield Boulevard, between Linn and Reche Roads in Landers. Admission is free to all, but donations will be gratefully accepted.

Tomorrow, the Fourth of July, the Rotary Club of Yucca Valley fireworks show will be at Brehm Youth Park at the corner of Palm Avenue and Little League Drive, across from the Boys and Girls Club. Spectators will sit on the new grass fields with their blankets and chairs and enjoy fireworks. Organizers ask, “Please be gentle on the new fields. Please no rolling coolers. We will have plenty of cool drinks and great food!” The gates will open at 5 p.m. Live entertainment, starting at 6 p.m., includes the Star Twirlers, California Youth Spirit Cheerleading, Yucca Valley Heat Dance team, “On Tap” live band, Kristina Quigley-Ban, and Z107.7’s Sam Smith. The community fair will include vendor booths, food and refreshments, and a military equipment display. The fireworks show in Yucca Valley will begin shortly after 9 p.m.

The City of Twentynine Palms Fourth of July celebration in Luckie Park activities begin at 4 p.m. with crafts and activities for kids of all ages. Luckie Park pool will offer free swimming from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Marine Sandpiper Joel Daniels and his bagpipes start off the entertainment at 4 p.m., followed by patriotic presentation “Salute to Freedom’s Beat” and the Southern Classic rock band “Southbound.” The fireworks will be shot off at the Twentynine Palms Junior High school, but all viewing should be done from Luckie Park or private residences. Two Mile Road from Wainwright to Utah Trail and Utah Trail from Two Mile Road to Playa Vista Avenue will be closed at 8:30 until the fireworks are over.
