Twentynine Palms firefighters saved a house from a fire Monday evening, although the garage is a total loss. According to County Fire Battalion Chief Scott Tuttle, the firefighters were returning from a medical aid call about 5:50 p.m. when they saw smoke coming from a single-family home in the 5600 block of Cahuilla Avenue. Upon arrival, the garage was fully involved in flames. Firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading into the house, although there was smoke and heat damage. The residents were not at home at the time of the fire. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
