FIREFIGHTERS SAVE HOUSE IN JOSHUA TREE FRIDAY

Firefighters managed to save most of a house in Joshua Tree Friday morning. Joshua Tree, Yucca Valley, and Yucca Mesa firefighters were called to the 7200 block of Sherwood Road about 11:30 Friday morning. Battalion Chief Scott Tuttle said the blaze started on the second story deck and spread into the attic, but firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the attic. Most of the residents’ belongings—and the house—were saved. Tuttle said it took about 30 minutes to control the fire; the cause is still under investigation.
