Morongo Basin firefighters were busy yesterday. Joshua Tree and Yucca Valley firefighters were called to the Joshua Tree Retreat Center about 5:30 p.m. for a small shed that caught fire. County Fire Battalion Chief Scott Tuttle said the shed, which housed electrical equipment, was a total loss, and the cause was determined to be electrical.
In Morongo Valley, firefighters were called to a small brush fire at the top of the Morongo Grade, on the westbound side of the highway. The fire burned about a 25-square foot patch of vegetation, including a tree, and took about 45 minutes to put out. The cause is under investigation.
