Part of Mara’s Christmas Wish, the free annual Christmas dinner feast and event in Yucca Valley, includes the distribution of toys to the children attending. Gathering all the toys to be donated is a community-wide effort. Reporter Andrew Dieleman says the Yucca Valley firefighters and Morongo Basin Ambulance are stepping up to make sure every child has a toy…
The San Bernardino County fire department and the Morongo Basin Ambulance have put out collection boxes for people to donate toys, which will be distributed to needy children in the county. But the firefighters and paramedics are making sure that toys they collect stay local. All the toys they collect will go to Mara’s Christmas Wish to be distributed to children on Christmas morning. A toy collection box is available at the Z107.7 studio in Joshua Tree and at many Yucca Valley mobile home parks, banks, and businesses. In addition, the firefighters and MBA will be holding toy drives at Walmart on Saturdays, December 7, 14, and 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Anyone who wishes to donate and volunteer with Mara’s Christmas Wish is invited to join the meetings that are held on Tuesday evenings on December 3, 10, and 17, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Yucca Valley Community Center, 57090 29 Palm Highway.
