The U.S. Forestry Service has announced that as of yesterday, it has increased the fire restrictions in the San Bernardino National Forest. Reporter Rebecca Havely has more information about the restrictions…

Fire restrictions on the San Bernardino National Forest will be elevated as of yesterday. The changes include limiting campfires to selected sites, increased restrictions on smoking, and the prohibition of welding and other open-flame activities without the proper permits. Violators may be fined  $5,000 to $10,000 and could face jail time. The restrictions are in effect through December 31, but may be lifted earlier if conditions improve.
