CalFire and Riverside County Fire Department firefighters contained a Whitewater fire to 26 acres last night. The fire was reported at 4:12 p.m. at Fairview Road and Old Morongo Road, just west of the 62 Highway and north of Interstate 10. By 9:22 p.m., a containment line had been established around the burn. Arriving firefighters reported 10 acres charred with a moderate rate of spread. The U.S. Forest Service, two helicopters and two air tankers assisted in stopping the spread. No structures were threatened and no injuries reported.
