MORONGO FAMILY HOMELESS AFTER A THURSDAY MORNING FIRE

A Morongo Valley family is homeless following a fire early Thursday morning. Morongo Valley firefighters were called to a structure fire in the 9100 block of Bella Vista Drive just before 6 a.m. The structure was fully involved in smoke and flames when firefighters arrived. Morongo Valley Deputy Chief Jim Brakebill said that firefighters knocked the blaze down in about 10 minutes. The blaze was contained to an electrical box on the outside of the home, but the home is no longer habitable. The American Red Cross was called in to assist the family of four. Brakebill said a preliminary cause of the fire is electrical. Yucca Valley firefighters, and Calfire from Yucca Valley and Riverside County assisted with the fire.
