Young people looking for camaraderie and an opportunity to serve their communities may want to consider being a Fire Explorer. ROP Broadcasting student Kyle Jarrard has more on the Twentynine Palms program…
Have you ever wondered about the fire explorer program at the Twentynine Palms Fire Department? According to explorer advisor, Engineer Lee Martin, it is very easy to become a Fire Explorer with Twentynine Palms Fire. First, you need to attend one of their training sessions to see if this is really what you want to do. If so, then paperwork needs to be filled out. Martin also says trainings are every other Monday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Becoming an Explorer gives you a head start and a foundation to build on. According to Martin, anyone between the ages of 14 and out of the eighth grade to age 21 can be an Explorer. Active explorers must maintain a C average in school to remain in good standing.
