A fire destroyed a mobile home in Yucca Valley Friday evening. About 8:40 p.m., firefighters were called to the Burnt Mountain Mobile Home Park in the 7800 block of Valley Vista. Smoke and flames were visible through the roof of the single-wide mobile home. All the people escaped from the fire, but one dog is missing. Firefighters were able to prevent the blaze from spreading to nearby mobile homes. County Fire Battalion Chief Rick Denison said due to a heavy fuel load inside the home, firefighters had to cut open the entire length of the mobile home to remove all the furnishings inside to ensure the fire was completely out. While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, Denison said the homeowner told firefighters he fell asleep with a cigarette.
