FIRE DESTROYS A TWENTYNINE PALMS AREA HOME

A Twentynine Palms home was severely damaged in a fire Wednesday morning. Just after 11 a.m., Twentynine Palms firefighters were dispatched to a fire near Bluegrass Avenue and Valley Vista Road in the Desert Heights area of Twentynine Palms. Firefighters were initially hampered by a lack of information concerning the exact location of the fire, and limited access to the property in the 70100 block of Mason Drive. Once crews gained access to the property, they found a single family home well involved in flames. Thirteen firefighters from Twentynine Palms, the Combat Center, and San Bernardino County made an aggressive attack on the blaze and had it under control about 10 minutes after arriving on scene. The home was not occupied and there were no injuries. Firefighter Lane McGivern cautions residents never to enter or re-enter a burning building to collect belongings.
